PIANO BAR AND JAZZ EVENINGS
A centre for philosophy and jazz, Saint-Germain-des-Prés became a temple for recovery after the Second World War. At the Tabou, the former name of Café Laurent, Anne-Marie Cazalis met Boris Vian, Abadie, and Gréco, Queneau, Mauriac, Sartre and many other hipsters during evenings where jazz, existentialism and a certain joie de vivre took pride of place.
Today, the Café Laurent, although it has returned to its original name, perpetuates this tradition so closely linked to the neighbourhood’s history. From Wednesday evening to Saturday evening, pianists, groups and singers take turns on the stage in our piano bar.
In this mythical venue in Saint-Germain-des-Prés which, in 1947, stayed open throughout the night, jazz evenings continue to chime out their notes and rhythms, no longer in the formerly packed cellars, but in a lounge offering a cosy atmosphere.
In the luxurious atmosphere of the Hotel d’Aubusson, Wendy Lee Taylor (voice) will be accompanied by award winning pianist Pierre Christophe (piano). Interpreting a repertoire of classic standards in both english and French, the duo’s performance is a rendez-vous of charm, elegance and swing.
